Hitachi Densa to Launch Iron Mountain-
Powered Backup Service
HITACHI ELECTRONICS SERVICES
CO. LTD. (Densa) is teaming with
Iron Mountain Digital on a new
software-as-a-service (SaaS) PC
backup solution, Anshin Backup
Service, that will be introduced
in April.
Densa—which translates to
relief, not worry—is developing
its SaaS offerings using its own
data center management know-how and the technology of Iron
Mountain Digital, the technology
services arm of Iron Mountain
Inc. Densa selected Iron Mountain
Digital after an extensive review,
recognizing that Iron Mountain’s
PC backup solution meets the
needs of the Japanese enterprise
market.
Anshin Backup Service features
agent software on the local PC that
saves folders and single files via
the Internet. That means that even
if users can’t access their PC due
to mechanical failure or a natural
disaster, they can follow a path to
the recovery of their data, which
is stored in Densa’s data center.
Anshin also employs incremental
backup and AES encryption, which
make it possible to reduce data
and boost information security
in terms of both network and
storage capacity.
Densa’s integrated services
include unified hardware and
software supporting the entire
information system life cycle in
the multivendor/multiplatform
environment. With a 320-branch-
office network, Hitachi’s solution
center and 24/7 customer support,
Densa’s new Anshin service
extends its commitment to provide
reliable and safe information
systems for all of its customers.
Iron Mountain Digital is the

Iron Mountain Digital’s Connected Backup
Solution Adds Support for Mac OS X
iron mountain digital, the technology
services arm of iron mountain inc. and
a leading provider of storage-as-a-service for backup and archiving,
has announced that its Connected®
backup solution will be available for
macs in april.
Connected backup provides businesses of all sizes with
the ability to protect vital corporate data, regardless of
computer platform, through secure and reliable online data
recovery and unmatched scalability.
the Connected backup solution with mac support
provides the same award-winning features as Connected
backup for pC, including fast, automatic backup without user
interruption or it intervention, and an end to data loss from
viruses, misplaced or stolen laptops, data corruption and user
error. it also gives it control of secure backup and restoration
both inside and beyond company firewalls.
it can use Connected backup to centrally manage
distributed data backup from mac and/or pC desktops and
laptops outside of the office. Customers using either pCs or
macs can retrieve lost or damaged files without help-desk
support with anytime/anywhere system rollback, even
when they’re away from the office. the solution’s patented
data reduction technologies reduce storage needs by up
to 85 percent.
“the number of enterprise mac users is on the rise, and
companies are in need of the same high-level data backup
and protection available for pCs to protect vital corporate
data,” says Cieran Cosgrave, head of managed services
for 2e2, an iron mountain digital channel partner. “iron
mountain digital’s addition of mac support allows us to offer
our customers the highest level of security for their corporate
data, regardless of their computer platform.”
iron mountain digital’s Connected backup solution is part
of the company’s comprehensive data protection solution
portfolio, which includes datadefense™, liveVault®, off-site
tape Vaulting and disaster recovery support.
